About Me

Growing up as an avid outdoorsman in San Antonio, I spent most of my childhood outside. This love for natural science drove me to pursue a degree in Biology from Austin College. After graduation, I began work as a research assistant at the University of Texas Health Science Center Neurobehavioral Lab. I organized and ran preliminary intake protocols looking at reducing DWI recidivism by contingency management coupled with cognitive behavioral therapy. I had a wonderful experience conducting academic research.

I decided to return an original passion of mine, being outdoors. I was brought on by a company called Davey Resource Group. This company had some attributes I knew I wanted as a part of my career, mainly driven and deadline based. Davey Resource Group sent me around the country to audit rural electrical distribution system for companies like Pedernales Co-op and Duke Energy. While working for Duke Energy in Charlotte, NC, I realized I had more of an inclination for technology than I knew.

I started with Raspberry Pi, a simple computer used to teach students basic computing, and proceeded to learn command line. Wanting more and needing a challenge that would have practical application, I turned to a computer scientist at UNC for advice. He introduced me to Python and I quickly found its math applications fascinating and powerful.
